Did you know that in Ontario there are several common types of mandatory training that companies are required to provide to their employees regardless of their size.
Occupational Health and Safety Training: Employers in Ontario are legally obligated to provide workplace health and safety training to their employees under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA). This training may cover topics such as workplace hazards, safety procedures, emergency protocols, and the rights and responsibilities of workers and employers.
Workplace Harassment and Violence Prevention Training: Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requires employers to provide training on workplace harassment and violence prevention. This includes educating employees about what constitutes harassment and violence, how to report incidents, and the steps the company will take to address complaints.
Human Rights Training: Employers are required to provide training on human rights legislation, such as the Ontario Human Rights Code. This training helps employees understand their rights and responsibilities regarding discrimination and harassment in the workplace.
There are other training requirements for companies that can vary depending on the industry and the specific nature of the work being undertaken.
