The profcess for which a complaint, tip etc. can be submitted should be clearly outlined in your Employee Handbook).
Planning and Preparation: The investigator identifies the scope of the investigation, gathers initial information, and plans the investigation process.
Collecting Evidence: Gathering relevant evidence, which may include reviewing documents, emails, and other records.
Interviews: Conducting interviews with the complainant, the accused, and any relevant witnesses to gather their perspectives on the incident.
Documentation: Keeping thorough and accurate records of interviews, evidence collected, and the investigative process.
Analysis: Analyzing the collected information to determine whether a violation of company policy or law has occurred.
Conclusion and Recommendations: Drawing conclusions based on the evidence and making recommendations for appropriate action, which could range from disciplinary measures to training or policy changes.
Resolution: Communicating the investigation’s findings and recommended actions to relevant parties and implementing the necessary steps to address the issue.
Follow-Up: Monitoring the situation to ensure that the recommended actions are taken and that the issue is effectively resolved.
